Based in Sydney, Australia, Greenbox Architecture delivers design led responsible solutions in Architecture, Interior Design and Urban Design on projects throughout the Asia Pacific Region. Greenbox’s latest project is the Castlecrag House which is a contemporary two-story cabin that is located in Sydney’s lush countryside.
Blending contemporary and rustic elements, the residence boasts an angular and wood-paneled upper level that protrudes towards its backyard.
The angular element is the home’s focal point. It envelops its bedroom space and is accented with a large, floor-to-ceiling window that reveals striking outdoor views.
The interior of the Castlecrag House is cozy, revealing a mix of clean white walls, warm wood finishes and surprisingly, plenty of antique furnishings. These pieces are strategically scattered throughout the home and are elegantly combined with its more contemporary elements.
From the architects: “Resilience is a guiding element of our practice. Resilient buildings don’t just sustain the required functionality but evolve alongside it – a symbiosis of structural function, operational needs and style (which we have in spades). Where sustainability aims to put the world back in balance, Resilience looks for a way to manage in an unbalanced world.”
